Some people want to be in the middle of action while others like to be a bit away to be able to quickly walk there but not have to deal with drunken crowds nearby under the windows. The question is what type of environment you are looking for to live in. A short walk or a cab ride/metro ride can get you pretty much anywhere of interest you want to go. Battery Park city would be different from the Village and LES is not quite the same as the Kips Bay.ĭC is rather small and most of its urban neiborhoods are clustered really close together, so regardless where you end up living you are never that far away from other neighborhoods. Living in Chelsea would be quite different than living in UES. Manhattan neighborhoods are not all the same, so it's hard to tell what type of experience you are trying to recreate. Depends on where in Manhattan you lived - what type of lifestyle you are used to.
